Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the LockIn mobile application (“App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and LockIn (“we,” “us,” or “our”). We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of those changes.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age to use the App. If you are under 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
3. Account Registration
To access certain features, you may sign in using Sign In with Apple. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and for all activities under your account.
4. Description of Service
LockIn is a screen time management app that uses exercise-based challenges to manage app usage. Features include: exercise-based app unlocking (push-ups, squats, jumping jacks, meditation, math problems), camera-based pose detection, Screen Time integration for app blocking, leaderboards via CloudKit, streak tracking, widgets, Live Activities, Emergency Pass in-app purchases, and push notifications.
5. Camera and Pose Detection
The App uses your device camera and Apple Vision framework for real-time body pose detection during exercises. No camera footage is recorded, stored, transmitted, or shared. Processing is entirely on-device.
6. Screen Time and App Blocking
By granting Screen Time permissions, you authorize the App to block/unblock selected apps and display shield overlays. Blocking depends on Apple's Screen Time API and may be affected by iOS updates.
7. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions
Emergency Passes are consumable purchases for instant app unlocking. LockIn Pro is an auto-renewable subscription. Payments are charged to your Apple ID. Subscriptions auto-renew unless turned off 24 hours before period end. Manage/cancel in Apple ID settings.
8. Leaderboard and CloudKit Data
Your display name, rep counts, and streak data are stored in Apple CloudKit's public database and visible to other users.
9. Data Storage and Encryption
Exercise data is stored locally using ChaChaPoly symmetric encryption with HKDF-SHA256 key derivation. Cloud data is stored on Apple's infrastructure. We do not operate custom servers.
10. User Conduct
You agree not to: use the App unlawfully, circumvent security or exercise verification, use bots to manipulate data, reverse engineer the App, or interfere with services.
11. Intellectual Property
The App and all content are owned by LockIn and protected by intellectual property laws. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license for personal use.
12. Health and Safety Disclaimer
Consult a physician before beginning any exercise program. You use exercise features at your own risk. The App is not a medical device.
13. Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, LockIn shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. Total liability shall not exceed $50 or amounts paid in the preceding 12 months, whichever is greater.
15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify LockIn from claims arising from your use of the App or violation of these Terms.
16. Third-Party Services
The App integrates with Apple Sign In, Screen Time, CloudKit, iCloud, Vision, StoreKit, and WidgetKit, governed by Apple's terms.
17. Termination
We may terminate access for breach of Terms. You may terminate by deleting the App and canceling subscriptions.
18. Governing Law
Governed by California law. Disputes resolved through binding arbitration on an individual basis.
19. Severability
Invalid provisions shall be modified to minimum extent necessary.
20. Entire Agreement
These Terms and our Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement.
